Dave King Issues Astonishing Rangers Claim About Steven Gerrard

Dave King issues astonishing Rangers claim about Steven Gerrard

The former Ibrox chairman insists the manager would have been sacked in England if results had been as poor as they have been in Scotland

Former Rangers chairman Dave King has claimed that Steven Gerrard would have been sacked in England if he had overseen the same results as he has in Scotland

The Ibrox manager has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks following a poor run of form that has seen Rangers knocked out of the Champions League, League Cup, and Scottish Cup

King, who sold his controlling stake in Rangers to Douglas Park in 2021, believes Gerrard's job would have been on the line if he was managing in the English Premier League

"If Gerrard was managing in England, he'd have been sacked"

"If Steven Gerrard was managing in England, he'd have been sacked already," King told the Daily Record

"The results haven't been good enough, and he's not getting the best out of his players

"I think he's under a lot of pressure, and I'm not sure how much longer he'll be able to keep his job"

Since Gerrard took over at Rangers in 2018, the club has won the Scottish Premiership title once and the Scottish Cup twice

However, they have yet to win the Champions League, and their performances in Europe have been disappointing

King believes that Gerrard needs to improve his team's results in the Scottish Premiership if he wants to keep his job

"Rangers need to be winning the league every year," he said

"They need to be challenging for the Champions League, and they need to be winning cups

"If Gerrard can't do that, then he'll need to find another job"
