After finding breakout film role last year in New Line's M3GAN, Blumhouse has announced its plans for a spinoff movie dubbed Soulm8te. The announcement was made back in June via Deadline, and now, the highly-anticipated film is coming to theaters soon.
Soulm8te is another entry in the newly established M3GAN cinematic universe, which has quickly become one of the most popular horror franchises in recent memory. The original film, released in January 2023, was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $100 million worldwide. The film's success has led Blumhouse to greenlight a sequel, M3GAN 2.0, which is set to be released in January 2025.
Soulm8te will be directed by Gerard Johnstone, who also directed the original M3GAN film. The film's script is written by Akela Cooper, who also wrote the screenplay for the first film. The film will star Violet McGraw, who played the role of Cady in the original film, and Jenna Davis, who will play the role of Gemma, a new character.
The plot of Soulm8te is currently being kept under wraps, but it is said to be a prequel to the original film. The film will follow Gemma as she is gifted a prototype of M3GAN, the AI-powered doll that became a global sensation.
