Messi scores five as Argentina thrash Estonia

Rampant Argentina continued their fine form by thrashing Estonia in a friendly in Pamplona, Spain, with Lionel Messi scoring all five of their goals.

The Barcelona forward took his tally for his country to 86 goals, moving him one ahead of Hungary's Ferenc Puskas in the all-time international goalscorers list.

Messi opened the scoring in the 8th minute and added another four in the 45th, 47th, 71st and 76th minutes as Argentina ran riot against their outclassed opponents.

The victory was Argentina's fourth in a row since winning the Copa America last year and extended their unbeaten run to 33 matches.

Estonia, ranked 110th in the world, were no match for Argentina and were lucky to only concede five goals.

Messi was in inspired form and was involved in all of Argentina's goals. He set up the first for Lautaro Martinez, who scored the second, and then scored the next four himself.

It was Messi's second five-goal haul for Argentina, after he scored five against Paraguay in a friendly in 2019.
